Industrial Electricians for Devices and Systems (m/f/d)
Do you have good technical understanding and manual skills? Do electrical systems and their function spark your interest? Then apply for an apprenticeship as an industrial electrician in "Devices and Systems". You do your basic training in the electronic and mechanical workshop. Afterwards, you will be gradually involved in the production. At any time during your two-year training, expert supervisors are there to help you and give you advice and support. Following your successful training, you have the possibility of continuing your training as an electronics technician for devices and systems.
Mechatronics Technician (m/f/d)
Do you have a good mathematical understanding and are interested in technology and physics? Then, vocational training as a mechatronics specialist at PI could be the right thing for you. Your comprehensive basic training in the mechanical and electronics workshop has the following content:
- Learning about work processes in fine precision mechanics, electronics, and pneumatics
- Becoming familiar with and measuring electrical and non-electrical measurands
- Programming commands (Step7)
After your basic training you will be integrated into the production department immediately. At any time during your three-and-a-half-year training, expert supervisors are there to help you and give you advice and support. Following your successful training, interesting jobs await you in our production department.
B.Eng. Electrical Engineer (m/f/d)
Would you like to join the company and get to know the challenges in your job while continuing your studies? Are you interested in technology and natural sciences? Then the dual curriculum degree course in electrical engineering is just the right thing for you. The theoretical part of the three-year course takes place at the DHBW in Karlsruhe. The electrical engineer degree course includes not only mathematical and physics basics such as the direct and alternating current theory but also application areas such as bus and network technology, semiconductor technology, automation, measurement technology, microcontroller programming, actuator and sensor technology. For the practical part, an individually tailored training plan will be drawn up and you will go through all relevant departments at PI. Integration into the day-to-day company business gives you an ideal specialization in nanopositioning with high-precision systems.
B.Eng. Mechatronics Specialist (m/f/d)
Would you like to join the company and get to know the challenges in your job while continuing your studies? Industrial Clerk (m/f/d) with Additional Qualification in Foreign Trade Assistance
Are you interested in economic affairs and do you enjoy dealing with people? Then, vocational training as an industrial clerk could be the right thing for you. During the three-year training course, you will be comprehensively and systematically familiarized with the operational procedures and subprocesses by our experienced specialist trainers. You will go through all commercial departments such as materials, sales and production management, human resources, finance and accounting as well as the marketing department and may even get a taste of production. In addition, you will be involved in projects at work and vocational school at an early stage. If you have a higher school certificate, you can even become an industrial clerk with additional qualification as a foreign trade assistant after two years of training.
IT Specialist for Data and Process Analysis (m/f/d)
Are you interested in the world of IT and have a basic technical understanding? Then, vocational training as an IT specialist could be the right thing for you. During the three-year training course, you will be comprehensively and systematically familiarized with the operational procedures and subprocesses by our experienced specialist trainers – this includes:
- Acquisition of knowledge in data storage and management
- Analysis, preparation and provision of data
- Determination of requirements and optimization of digital work and business processes
In addition, you will be involved in projects at a very early stage both in the company and in the vocational school.
B.Sc. Computer Science / Information Technology (m/f/d)
Would you like to join the company while continuing your studies and get to know the challenges in your job? Are you interested in technology and mathematics? Then the dual curriculum degree course in computer science / information technology is just the right thing for you. The theoretical part of the three-year course takes place at the DHBW in Karlsruhe. For the practical part, an individually tailored training plan will be drawn up and you will go through all relevant departments at PI. Integration into the day-to-day company business gives you an ideal specialization in nanopositioning with high-precision systems that includes the following:
- Programming in high-level languages including software unit testing
- Software engineering (clean code, design patterns, continuous integration)
- Basics of software project management (agile with SCRUM)
- Connecting external devices (measuring equipment and drives) and data evaluation
- Hardware-related interfaces (OPC/UA, fieldbus e.g., EtherCAT)
- Basics of software architecture
- Development tools (Jira, Jenkins, Git)

Prospective trainees for commercial professions complete a test at PI and also take part in a job interview within a larger group – both take about half a day. In addition, there is a one-week internship in our trainee workshop, which is completed before or after the application.
