PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is the world leader in high precision positioning systems: Nano Positioning, Micro Positioning, Precision Motion and Automation Systems. Our product lines include piezoelectric-based nano positioners, motorized stepper and servo stages, and linear motor stages. As a valued business partner and member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Human Resources will be a strategic thinker, skilled changed manager and functional hands-on leader. This role will be responsible for building a strong and valued HR function that fosters diversity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging to promote a positive and cohesive employee environment.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing, coaching, mentoring and developing two HR Generalists, supporting organizational development and design, while partnering with leadership on talent acquisition, retention and development. This position will be based in Hopkinton, MA with occasional travel to Auburn, MA and Nashua, NH. This position reports to the Managing Director of Operations. What You Will Do:
OrganizationalEffectiveness:

- Recommendsnewapproachesandpractices, implementing continualimprovementsinthe department efficiencyand services delivered.

- Maintains in-depth knowledge of employment legal requirements, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Develops, recommends, and implements employee policies and procedures, while anticipating evolving federal and state legal directives.
- Identifiestrendsthatimpactorganizationalobjectivesand/oroperationalresources.
Recruitment & Growth:
- Reviews existing policies, practices, infrastructure, and culture, to ensure integration of new team members, as the organization scales due to rapid growth.
- Partners with hiring managers to assess the needs of the team, ensures a diverse slate of qualified candidates, and drives a consistent, efficient, and high-quality interviewing and offer process.
- Partners with the Managing Director to prepare for the move to a new facility.

- Develops and implements all onboarding & offboarding processes.

- Manages, coaches and mentors the HR Team.
- Oversees learning & development initiatives.
- Provides coaching to managers with employee-related issues, conflicts, or concerns.
- Oversee performance management programs ensuring ease of use, a positive experience and quality outcomes.
- Establish career ladders and Individual Development Plans to identify and develop growth opportunities and strengthen performance.
- Provides managers with coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc. as needed.
- Supports the development of companywide goals.

What Have You Done:
- BS Business, Management, Human Resources, or related field with 15+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, ideally in a manufacturing/engineering environment, with a Global component.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in a dynamic, high growth, fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Effectively deals with competing priorities, able to remain “calm under fire,” able to take on challenging projects, and to anticipate problems in advance.
- Effective team player who puts personal agenda aside to focus on what is best for the team and the company.
- Flexibility to work on both strategic and tactical work, depending on the business needs at the time.
- Analytical and detail focused with superior communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Highly proficient in the full MS Office Suite. Experience with UKG’s ready Platform is preferred.
